Let’s take a look at the major shift that’s occurred in Chicago & Illinois commercial real estate over the past 18 months.  First, we lost over 500,000 jobs in the Chicagoland area in the span of 2 months.  That’s nearly two times as many job losses as the entire economic crisis of 2008/2009.  While some of the jobs have come back, there’s still a delta in the neighborhood of 200,000 versus pre-pandemic levels.  With regards to Chicago, the recovery has been K-shaped.
